315 5km Winter Series

The 3-1-5 5k & 10k Winter Series started 2016-2017 and gives runners a chance to run a flat and fast series throughout the winter months on flat traffic free routes. 

 

A series of fast road 5k races using the paved cycle way from close to the 3-1-5 Health Club heading to Skerton Bridge before looping back to the finish.

 

Run on a flat, quiet cycle path, following the River Lune in the historic city of Lancaster.

 

Our 5km & 10km races aim to be a friendly series organised by runners who are dedicated to delivering a well supported series of races for every type of runner, as well as providing the opportunity to support local charities at the same time. This is a flat, fast, out and back course with excellent opportunities for spectators.

 

To new runners, and those considering running with us for the first time, we promise a warm welcome and a race with fantastic support that is designed for all. This is a friendly race but also extremely fast!

 

Regardless if you are an elite runner with prize winning ambitions, chasing a new personal best time, or just out to enjoy the views down the River Lune then this race is just right for you!

Where does the race start & what time does it start?

The Race HQ is at 3-1-5 Health Club, Mannin Way, Caton Road, Lancaster LA1 3PE with the start being 0.5miles away from the Health Club on the Luneside Path. Both races start at 11am with the 5km doing 1 lap and 10km doing 2 laps. Numbers can be collected from 9.30am. Please note there is a 2.2m height barrier at the entrance of the centre car park. The club is not always able to open this and if you have a tall vehicle we request you let us know in advance.

 

Where can I park?

Parking for competitors and supporters will be available at the Health Club.



After the race there may be queues at busy times, please be patient whilst we work to help everybody leave as quickly and smoothly as possible.

 

Where can I stay in Lancaster?

Lancaster has a number of hotels and B&B’s in the centre and outskirts of the city. Please contact us for more information with your requirements and we’ll do our best to match you to appropriate accommodation.

 

What is the race route?
The races follow the River Lune and are a very scenic, peaceful route and also a spectator friendly.

 

Mainly set on public pathways the routes are traffic-free with only a small road section.

What are the rules for the event?

This race is run under UK Athletics rules.

 

How far apart are the drinks stations?
The drinks stations will be at the half way point on the route.

 

What else will be available on the course?

A number of marshals and community groups will be on the course providing runners with jelly babies and Vaseline if required!

 

Will there be start zones?
No.

 

Will there be mile or km markers?
There will be mile markers, every mile.

 

How old do I need to be to run the races

To enter the 5km runners must be 11 years on day of the race and the 10km 15 years.

  

I can't run - What is your refund policy? Can I transfer my number?

We are now unable to offer swaps and refunds.


What if I am ill, injured or unfit before the race?
We recommend that you do not run if you feel ill, injured or have not trained for this event. If in doubt, consult your doctor.


Can I run in Fancy Dress?
Yes, we welcome runners in fancy dress. Please take care with your choice of fancy dress as roads & paths are NOT closed to the public.


Can I wear an iPod or music player?
It is not recommended. For your own safety you need to be aware of what is around you, and to be able to take instructions from marshals.

 

Is there a baggage store?

The Health club has lockers but you must provide your own lock.

 

Where are the toilets?
There are ample toilets at the 3-1-5 Health Club.

 

What food and drink will be available?

There will be food and drink available to buy within the 3-1-5 Health Club.


When will the results be available and when is the presentation?
Results will be posted online soon after the race and hopefully available on the day.

 

Where is a good place to spectate?
The course is inaccessible without transport but we have a number of course sites where you will be able to spectate and get a drink from as well!
