Jail Break 10km - 13th september 2020

The Jail Break 10km was due to take place on the 13th September using both the Lancaster Royal Kings Arms Hotel and also the Castle Area.

However, due to the current Coronavirus pandemic, we are required to operate a little differently to ensure all your safety during this time. Please note changes to the route, start time and location.

Please read all the 'Runners Info' below to find out more of what you can expect at the event and how it is being run. This is done in conjunction with Lancashire City Council.

Race numbers
All race numbers will be posted out the week before the event. There are no collections on the day or entries on the day.

Start Time
The event is a time-trial style event, and there will be no mass start of competitors. You will start individually or in very small pockets following current government guidelines.

Runners can start any time between 10.00am any 11.00am. A maximum of 25 competitors at any one time are permitted to access the secure start area. Please keep to the 2-metre social distancing rule at all times.

Please choose your arrival times carefully to avoid causing a ‘gathering’ within the start line area.

When reaching the secure starting area, you must be ready to run.

Please queue in an orderly fashion and keep moving so we can maintain a steady starting flow.

Runners will be started at short intervals. PPE and Masks are optional for the run but we strongly advise using them around the event areas.

Toilets
Toilet units will be provided but please sanitise your hands before and after use.  They will be positioned close to the start area. Each toilet will contain hand-sanitiser and paper towels. We ask you to use the hand-sanitiser before and after you use the toilet and keep them as clean as possible. For this event, we will not have a race HQ as per our usual events.

Water
As part of our commitment to preventing the spread of Covid-19 we will be using sealed self service bottled water at the end of the race.

There will be no water stations on the route.

Finishing
When you have completed the course, you will pass through the finish please maintain your social distance at all times. Medals will be available to collect from a self service desk at the end of the finish funnel.

Do not stop in the finishing funnel as this will impede other runners finishing.

Spectators & Codes of Conduct
We ask that spectators do please do not come to the start and finish areas.

Spectators must go out on to the course.

Arrange a suitable viewing position in advance as well as a post-race meeting point which is not directly in the finish area.

Friends and family is a big part of your running experience, but we ask that you avoid this to enable us to maintain social distancing at the event.

Should you require any assistance then please make yourself aware to a marshal who will notify the medics.

Baggage Storage
To minimise contact between yourself and our marshals, we ask you do not bring any baggage to the event. You need to arrive ‘ready to run’.

There will be an open air space to drop bags. This will be un unmarshalled areas and will not be covered.

Results
Results will be published shortly after the event. They will be in the form of an alphabetical list and will be manually timed by our team.

This is your time from the start point to the finish point. As the event is a time-trial, not a mass start, ‘first past the post’ rules do not apply.

Times will be sent to P10 & Run Britain around 48 hours after race day.

Run Route
When out on the course you must keep to the 2-metre social distancing rules.

Overtaking is inevitable but we have a limit of 150 runners spaced out over 60 minutes so we do not expect the route to be busy.

Please stick to the LEFT HAND SIDE at all times on the two-way sections unless overtaking. If you do, move back to the left as soon as possible.

The course has been officially measured as accurate and holds an Association of UK Course Measurers certificate.
